The rain storms that chased me west finally caught up in Chicago. The night air was warm enough, so I was out in the streets to see what I could see. The theater district was lit up. Jackson Browne’s name was on the marquee for a Tuesday show at The Chicago Theater. Men and women scurried in and out of doorways dodging the storm. I ducked inside a hotel lobby and called home, talked a few minutes and then I was back out on the glistening wide sidewalks. Downtown Chicago was big and fancy, well dressed citizens, put off a bit by the storm, walked together talking about business. I had spent most of my day on the Southside of the city. The news has been grim for some time there. I was just another tourist out seeing the sites.
